Choose the DCD800B when you already have a compatible battery and charger and only need the drill. Compare the DCD800D2 when you need to buy those components too. Both packages are built around the DCD800 drill/driver; the kit suffix is not a different drilling function. Compare the exact Amazon US packages.
This guide checks package identity rather than claiming a performance winner. We have not tested either package, measured battery life or verified a seller’s current inventory. Sources and product photos were checked on 2 October 2026. The photo shows the D2 kit, not what is included with the bare tool.
What changes between the packages?

Check your exact battery and charger
Before counting equipment as “already owned,” read its model label. For the North American DCD800 package discussed here, DeWalt’s DCD800/DCD805 manual, battery and charger table lists DCB203 batteries and DCB112 chargers. These are also the models named in the D2 kit contents. Documentation rechecked on 4 October 2026.
| What is on your bench? | Next decision |
|---|---|
| DCB203 battery and DCB112 charger | This is a documented combination for the package here. Check their condition and the charger’s input label before counting them as ready to use. |
| DCB203 battery, but no charger | A bare-tool purchase still needs a suitable charger; include that cost. |
| Another battery or charger model | Look up both exact model numbers in the tool and charger documentation. The two models above are examples, not an exhaustive compatibility list. |
| Only the same brand, color or a similar voltage number | Compatibility is unverified. Do not treat a visual match or third-party adapter as approval. |
The North American manual specifies 120 V household supply for its mains charger. An adapter that changes plug shape does not establish a suitable input voltage. For another country, check the actual charger’s rating and the manufacturer’s regional documentation before buying an imported kit.
Once those checks are complete, mark each component owned and verified, must buy, or not yet verified. Count only the first category as zero additional cost in the calculator below. If a model is missing from your documentation, ask DeWalt to confirm it instead of assuming it is compatible or incompatible.
Who should compare the bare tool?
If you have a manufacturer-approved battery and charger ready for this model, the bare-tool offer is a logical place to begin. Check the label on the equipment you own rather than relying on its color or the brand alone. Do not count an unverified adapter as a compatible system.
A kit can still be worth comparing if you genuinely need spare batteries. Decide that need before seeing a bundle discount. Otherwise, it is easy to assign imaginary value to extra equipment that will remain in the bag.
Who should compare the kit?
If this would be your first cordless drill, the bare-tool price leaves out essential purchases. Compare the D2 kit against a complete alternative basket. Check the included charger’s electrical input and plug for the country where you will use it; an Amazon US link is not a promise that an imported charger suits your local mains supply.
Two batteries do not establish a runtime guarantee. Runtime depends on the work and equipment, and we have not measured it. If your tasks are demanding or continuous, consult the tool documentation and assess the batteries you actually need rather than buying from a headline number.
Compare complete setup costs
Use your current delivered prices in one currency. For a bare tool, add only the equipment you still need. For the kit, include anything absent from its contents list. Enter zero for items already owned or not needed. Tax and shipping must be included consistently.
Your prices, your total
Enter delivered amounts in the same currency. Blank means unknown; enter 0 when nothing extra is needed.
This is a budget comparison, not a recommendation based on performance. A lower total cannot make an unsuitable tool the right one. No prices are stored, sent to analytics or fetched from a retailer.
When neither package is right
Neither package adds a hammer-drill mode to the DCD800. If that is the feature you need, return to drill types and job fit before shopping. For repeated screwdriving, read impact driver versus drill before assuming you need a second drill.
For use instructions and model differences, consult the DCD800/DCD805 manual. This shopping checklist does not replace operating or battery-safety instructions.
Final listing check
Match the model suffix to the button you used. Check seller, condition, battery count, charger, included items, delivered price, returns and warranty eligibility. A manufacturer warranty statement does not verify the terms of every marketplace offer. If the listing changes to another variant, stop and compare it again.
